The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change. The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction not a destination. What I am is good enough if I would only be it openly. ― Carl R. Rogers,

“The kind of caring that the client-centred therapist desires to achieve is a gullible caring, in which clients are accepted as they say they are, not with a lurking suspicion in the therapist's mind that they may, in fact, be otherwise. This attitude is not stupidity on the therapist's part; it is the kind of attitude that is most likely to lead to trust...” ― Carl R. Rogers

Experience:

Over the years I have had the privilege to work in a variety of different settings, including rape and sexual abuse organisations, custodial settings and independent practice.

I support people who have experienced any form of traumatic incident, including rape and/or childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, work related trauma including vicarious trauma, one off traumatic events, sudden loss and bereavement, relationship breakdown, anxiety, depression and social isolation.

I work closely with clients who develop unhelpful coping strategies including, self harming  behaviour, suicidal thoughts and feelings, flashbacks, dissociation, risk taking behaviour, drug and alcohol issues and clients who struggle with intimate or sexual relationships.

I also have extensive experience working with Vulnerable witnesses to support them Pre-trial, through targeted interventions to prepare them for court. In line with the Provision of therapy for Child Witnesses prior to criminal trial 2002

One of my passions is therapeutic group work and I have been facilitating groups for over twenty years. The thing that really inspires me about this area of my work, is the connection, trust and sense of safety that's created between group members.

Group members often say that being with other people who have experienced similar issues, helped them to feel less alone and more connected  within themselves and with other people
